London Happenings

Sorry to everyone who is on the edge of their seats awaiting the next instalment, we do sometimes just spend the day at home.

What have we done since I last posted??

- I have been working. Really enjoying my job. There are lots of challenges. Things that annoy me though are that I'm working 9 hour days with an hour break and a half hour break unpaid. Seeing as I was used to catching lunch on the run at Southcity, this is almost unbearable, and so I end up working many more hours each week than I am paid for. I am going to see if i can negotiate coming in a bit later, or leaving earlier. When you factor in travelling an hour and a half there and back, I'd much rather be there less time, than wasting more time sitting around.

Shoplifting is horendous- we had a guy steal a box of multiple packets of gum today, not to mention the numerous hair straighteners, electric toothbrushes that seem to walk out, even though they are security tagged. It is really bad. I have been doing mostly early shifts, which means starting at 7 and finishing at 4. I have enjoyed the early morning walk to work though I am sure the novelty will wear off one day. The staff are nice, but they do not work very well as a team. I am trying to work on this... not sure how though.

- We went to dinner and drinks the other night with Murray Harbon, and his sister Michelle and her boyfriend Marco. We went to Piccadilly. It was a lovely night, though Daniel is struggling without his Pure Blondes. English beer doesn't cut it for him right now. I have been going well with beer, and managed to have 3 whole pints!!!

- The other day Nicola and Phelan stayed with us, on their way up to Scotland. We went to the city and it was St Patricks Day. We went to a pub and had a Guinness each. I didnt mind it but Daniel could barely drink it. We got a free hat for our efforts yay!!

- The weather has been lovely this week, but it is expeced to go back to rain and overcast next week. It even got to 17 degrees one day. We have found a free tennis court within walking distance to our place and bought some tennis rackets the other day.

I can't think of anything else exciting to write about for now.....

London Eye:

Today we went on the London Eye.

We had bought a special discount pass, which was meant to fast track our entry. (It didn't- but luckily as today was overast the lines were short)
For anyone who hasn't been on the London Eye, but was thinking it might be good, it probably isn't worth the money. It is okay, and interesting to do, but you are in the pods for about 30 minutes and tickets are about 20 pounds each. Views are not really that much better than you see at ground level. I mean, you do see down the Thames, and can see Big Ben and Westminster Abbey- but you can just as easily see them from the ground. I think if you are in London for a short while, there are better things to spend your money on. You can see from Daniel's enthusiasm in the video how excited about the London Eye he was.

We also went to look at Wetsminster Abbey. It is pretty impresive from the outside, we were too stingy to pay to go inside. We also saw a 3 wheeled car so thought we'd take a picture of it. Also, you will notice that Daniel doesn't smile much in photos. He said Bec used up his smile quota for the year.
Also, for those who were wanting to know how to post a comment, just post it as anonymous, but then in what you type, write your name so I know who it is.
